DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO – Authorities were dispatched to a series of collisions New Year’s Eve on Interstate 25 near Castle Rock, according to KDVR.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said the incidents unfolded on a stretch of the highway between Tomah Road at Exit 174 and Plum Creek Parkway at Exit 181. Crews responded to the scene shortly before 9:45 p.m.
While no information about the involved parties and vehicles has been released, several cars were found damaged in the roadway immediately after the event, and part of the I-25 frontage road was shut down as a result.
Motorists traveling through the area were warned of a miles-long traffic backup.
Officials have not said whether anyone was seriously injured or is expected to be charged.
