WHEAT RIDGE, CO – No one was injured in a vehicle fire reported at the I-70 East and Ward Road junction Tuesday.
Wheat Ridge Police confirmed the driver was able to escape the vehicle. They first announced this incident at approximately 4:37 p.m., indicating they shut down most of the eastbound lanes so they, along with fire rescue crews, could assist the victim.
TRAFFIC ALERT: All but one lane of EB I-70 is shut down at Ward Rd. due to a vehicle fire. No injuries, as the driver was able to get out quickly.

Closures only lasted about 10 minutes, and all lanes reopened around 4:47 p.m.
Prior to the vehicle fire, police and fire rescue crews responded to a collision around 11:30 a.m. that also happened on I-70 East near Ward Road. Two roadside workers were hit by a vehicle. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Police shut down most of the eastbound lanes before lifting the closure around 12:50 p.m.
