AURORA, CO – Authorities responded to a two-vehicle wreck early Sunday, December 29, in Aurora that claimed one life and left another person critically injured, according to Denver 7.
The fatal accident took place on the northbound lanes at Exit 5 to East Iliff Avenue, just after 4:00 a.m.
Preliminary details shared by Aurora Police Department officials show two vehicles collided.
One person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a second person was rushed to an area hospital for injuries deemed life-threatening.
Officials said that while the second vehicle’s three occupants were evaluated onsite, none of those patients were transported to the hospital.
An investigation into the crash remains in progress, but speed appears to have contributed to the incident.
A stretch of the northbound interstate was blocked during the response but reopened by about 11:00 a.m.
