NEAR LONGMONT, CO – A 26-year-old man driving a passenger vehicle lost his life after he turned left at a junction near Longmont and was hit by a tractor-trailer Tuesday.
This collision happened before 7:30 a.m. at the East County Line Road and Zlaten Drive intersection, according to Times-Call. The impact of the crash led vehicles to swerve off the road and come to rest northwest of the junction.
The semi-truck driver, a 33-year-old adult from Denver, was unharmed, while the 26-year-old man was declared dead at the scene.
Officials have started an investigation. However, they have not yet revealed the identity of the 26-year-old man, only stating he was a Longmont resident. Still, the coroner’s office will release his name pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities closed East County Line, located between Quicksilver Road and East Ken Pratt Boulevard, for several hours and reopened after 3:30 p.m.
